This thing called blackness is a lot to unpack. Defining it is like one of those never-ending “who’s your top 5” discussions. Y’all can handle that on your own time. What we do need to discuss is mental health. In recent years, we as a community have begun to open the dialogue around mental health, but we can, we must, do better.
We need more of Gini Elliot in our lives- so do you. Self-taught. Self-actualized. Modest. The tone of her voice is a shade of sincere, reminiscent of your favorite auntie. As she speaks, the wisdom and warmth of her words comfort like that home-cooked meal you’ve been thinking about all week.
This is what happens when it all comes together. The cultural phenomenon known as Southwest Atlanta. The influence of a religious upbringing. Getting one’s hands dirty in the great outdoors. Put them together and a natural curiosity about people, culture and life itself emerges. This is a small sample of the makings of Fred Andrews.
